CAS Software
CAS software is supplied with the instrument to automatically collect data and to provide detailed analysis. The user friendly software allows you to set the parameters of data collection and provides the facility to analyse and structure your data. CAS sets the test parameters in any user defined combination and presents the results in an appropriate graphical format with supplementary numeric data on variables such as maximum strength and fatigue rate.
The analysis functions of the software allow each test to be studied in detail. Data may be analysed by patient, patient group or by comparing groups (i.e. against a control population). Tests carried out over a period of therapy may be readily compared and trend analysis performed. Numerical statistical values are automatically calculated and can be either displayed on screen or printed out. All results can be supplemented by adding textual information.
CAS allows data to be made in two testing formats:
  1. Single or multiple cycle STRENGTH TESTS, usually of maximal effort over a user specified test duration and in addition allows multiple repeat cycles of activity and rest to be defined.
  2. Real time, bio-feedback controlled ENDURANCE TESTS requiring sub-maximal effort to be maintained at pre-specified target levels or percentages of maximum strength.
STRENGTH TESTS provide graphical and numeric data on:
  • Grip/Torque Rate - ability to apply strength.
  • Fatigue Rate - maintenance of maximum force.
  • Total Fatigue - indication of endurance.
  • Release Rate - indication of stiffness.
  • Impulse - integrated strength calculated from the area under the curve.
  • Maximum force/torque - peak value.
ENDURANCE TESTS provide graphical and numerical data on:
  • Visual bio-feedback - provides motivation.
  • Total test time - of applied torque/force.
  • Target time - time within the target zone.
  • Percentage on target - indication of muscle control and weakness.
  • Impulse - area under the curve indicating muscle endurance.
CAS comes complete with text sensitive help files and can be operated either from the keyboard or by using a Microsoft mouse.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS
CAS will operate on any IBM compatible PC. The recommended minimum specifications are: 80386 processor, 2Mb ram 40Mb hard disk and VGA graphics. The software will be much enhanced if you use a colour monitor and a maths co-processor.
The Digital Analyser unit contains an in-built analogue to digital converter which interfaces with the computer's RS232 serial port connector using a simple cable. This direct connection allows the analyser to be operated on any number of computers onto which our software has been installed. CAS uses your hard disk to store data, so the capacity for data storage is only limited by the size of the hard disk used.
